Happy birthday in Heaven, Mama!

My dearest Mama,

Today would have been your 66th birthday, and we miss you dearly. Even after all this time, you are far from forgotten. So many of the valuable lessons I carry through life came from you and Papa, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

Though we may not have been granted more time together in this mortal realm, I know you are always with us, watching over us. I still remember the warmth of your presence when I was a child, studying by the "gasera." You didn't need to say a word; your quiet presence brought me immense comfort. My only regret is that I never had the chance to return that care as you grew older. God, however, had a different plan for us.

They have stood up uncomplaining under the constant and grueling fire of the enemy for more than three months. Besieged on land and blockaded by sea, cut off from all sources of help in the Philippines and in America, the intrepid fighters have done all that human endurance could bear. For what ...
